Today has been an interesting day to say the least. We went to a Memorial Service for 9/11. Wow. Just wow. I still can’t believe how all that went down. And to think how the rhetoric and politicizing has evolved . . . Instead of addressing the issues head-on, we have a President who is apologizing for everything about America.
Thanks so much to my friends at Madison, TN Tree Service for sponsoring my blog!
We’ve been having a blast. Today we hung out at Siesta Key beach for most of the day. It really is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We had a great time. Here’s some pics that I took of us and the “scenery.”

This weekend was a lot of fun! We went to the Gators game, hung out in Gainesville and then at some cool springs. Lots of fun! Here’s a pic from the game.
Not the best seats in the house – but we had a great time. And of course, the cool springs were awesome!!! But it was kind of crazy on Friday night. There was still some leftovers of the hurricane. So that made it a little messy. But what was most crazy was getting stuck trying to get out of their “neighborhood.” I put quotes around neighborhood because there might be one other house within three miles of theirs. They live out in the sticks. Well, as much as Florida can have sticks. Which is cool 99% of the time. But it’s that 1% where you slide off the gravel road and get stuck in the ditch.
So yeah, that was fun. But I’ve got to give props to these guys who came to meet us. I’m talking about the towing company that helped us. I think the name of the company is SRQ Towing. So like I said, props to them. If you’re ever stuck in near Sarasota, give these guys a call. They go to us real quickly and were pretty cool.
Here’s a pic from the cool springs we went to. It was at Poe Springs Park. Lot’s of fun!!!
Well, this storm has slowed stuff down – a lot. But I’ll tell ya, this has been a lot of fun. We went to the beach a few times. Mostly just to check out the waves from the storm. And I’m still not sure if Siesta Key really did when an award about the most beautiful beach in the world. But it’s gorgeous. And some of the other “views” aren’t half bad either, if you know what I mean.
Check out this link to a video of the waves coming in from the tropical storm. The guy who posted this goes to Brad’s family’s church. Cool guy. We went and hung out a little at the North Jetty.
Well, I’ve been here for three or four days now. I’ve lost track. But the trip over from Miami was cool. I stopped in Everglades at one of those places that does airboat rides. Here’s the link, you should definitely check it out if you’re down that way. It was a blast. And those freakin gators. Holy crap!!!! We saw some HUGE ones.
After that, I came on over to SRQ and hooked up with Brad. His parents are so cool. He’s also got a little brother. Joey is a lot of fun. So we’ve pretty much been hanging out for a few days. We’re all planning on going to the Gators football game on Saturday. I think we’re going to head up tomorrow sometimes. I’ve never been much of a Gators fan, but it should be fun spending time with their family.
I’ll try to post some pics from the game 🙂
Hah – I’m not actually in South Beach. But that sounds cool. This is my last night here in Miami. Tomorrow morning I’m heading out. The plan is to cut across and check out the Everglades and the head over to Sarasota. I hoping to stop and do one of those airboat rides. I’ve grown up in south Florida but I’ve never taken one. So that should be a lot of fun.
I’ve got a buddy from school who lives there. His family owns a Cabinet Making and Outdoor Kitchen Contractor business there. They’ve always been really awesome people. Brad and I first met at church camp back when we were little kids. We always went to the same week as we were growing up and continued that relationship.
Like I said, his family are really great people. I don’t think they’re rich, but they must be doing ok. Because that tree business is doing pretty well. I think the plan is for Brad to take over for his Dad someday – sooner rather than later. But anyways.
While I’m there, we’re going to check out the scene on Siesta Key and St. Armands. It’s definitely an old folks town; but there’s still some cool spots. Check out this place called the Daiquiri Deck. That is to say, as long as this storm passes over.
Sooo, I’ll catch up with you guys on the other side.
